Google holt sich die Hippies

Wer viel Geld verdient, der soll auch viel Geld spenden - eine Regel, die US-Firmen viel besser befolgen als die Unternehmen in Deutschland. Auch die mächtigste Maschine macht jetzt ernst, der Chef der Wohltätigkeitssparte Google.org ist der Althippie, Online-Pionier und Arzt Larry Brilliant.


He arrived in San Francisco during the famous 1967 "Summer of Love." He met one of the 1960s icons, the Grateful Dead, and spent two years traveling with his wife and 40 other hippies through Europe and the Middle East.

Brilliant is the latest Google hire with a Dead connection. The company's legendary corporate chef, Charlie Ayers, was the band's chef.

Kommt davon: Wenn man nichts Böses tun möchte, gibt es gleich Leute, die das ernst nehmen und das Logo verunstalten. Protest gegen Google ist einfach irgendwie noch protestiger als Protest gegen Microsoft. Auch dies ist eine beängstigende Vormachtstellung.

Die alte Mär, derzufolge ein objektiver Algorithmus Googles Ergebnisse produziert, ist jetzt von der mächtigsten Maschine selbst aus der Welt geschafft worden. Man kann sie aber noch finden, die Mär - zum Glück gibt es aufmersame Googleverfolger.

Da freut sich der Nutzer, der seinen eigenen PC mit Google durchsuchen möchte: Man kann es jetzt auch von unterwegs aus erledigen - sofern man Googles neues Computer-Durchsuch-Werkzeug richtig einstellt.

Da muss man nur einen Millimeter weiterdenken: Jeder könnte dann ja den PC durchsuchen, von überallher. Polizisten und Steuerfahnder dürfen das natürlich nur mit Durchsuchungsbefehl.

Google macht erst mal nicht in Linux, sondern in Windows

Ein kostenloses Google-Betriebssystem, das wäre ja auch zu schön gewesen, wo Google doch schon kostenloses Internet für die Welt fördert. Aber man kann ja schon mal mit der Verbesserung von Windows auf den Computern vom Weltmarktführer Dell anfangen. Das Geld ist ja da.
